Non-slip tape for rugs & mats

I need some non-slip tape to put underneath our doormat, and also to put underneath the painting mat on DS's little table to stop it moving around.

Any suggestions as to a sort which actually works?

Thanks.

We got a non-slip underlay from B&Q for our rug. It does. not. move. It's a pain to clean though!

Do you have any silicone sealant -the type that you use to seal round the edges of baths etc? If you put some sealant in thin parallel lines across the back of the mat (and leave to dry obviously) this will work to make the mat non-slip. I guess it would work for a painting mat too although it might make an uneven surface to paint on. Could you put it in a square/rectangular shape round the edge of the mat but just a cm in from the edge of where it will sit on the table?

Ah, silicone sealant sounds good - we've got some of that. If it doesn't work, I'll have a look in B&Q - thanks.
