Using cotton cycle on washing machine

Hi there. Ive just moved house and have a new washing machine which doesn't have a mixed cycle. The synthetics cycle doesn't take a full load nor does it seem to wash the clothes very well - will washing synthetics on the cotton cycle along with my cottons cause anything to shrink?

Thanks in advance!

I use the cottons cycle for pretty much everything as I mix fabrics in loads all the time. Never damaged any synthetics doing this.

I think the cottons cycle is a bit rougher than the synthetics cycle, and may have a faster spin. It won't shrink things, but might pull delicates out of shape / make them go bobbly.

Thanks guys - anything that is delicate I plan to put on a wool delicates cycle, it will only be cottons and synthetics that have one line under the washing machine symbol on the label- anything with two lines will be going on a delicate cycle.

I've just bought a sleep suit which has the synthetics wash symbol on the label but says to put on a delicates cycle - complete contradiction! It's 100% cotton so I'm sure it will be fine on the cottons cycle.

I only ever use the cotton cycle

because i bought a machine with a fast spin because i wanted my clothes to have a fast spin, and therefor take less time to dry on an airer

regardless of the washing machines spin speed, the easy care setting normally only spins at 800rpm (which i find leaves clothes very wet, and then they take ages to dry).... I like things spun at 1400rpm, so i use the setting that spins them at this speed

all of my / our clothes are fine

I have a couple of delicate items that i havent worn for over a year since getting pg but i would wash them on a more delicate wash

all the normal stuff is washed as cotton though
