Dishwasher leaving white milky residue - anyone else had this?

Yesterday my dishwasher left a milky/chalky residue on all my plates, cutlery and glasses - its easy to wash off.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have cleaned the arms, filter, run a service clean, salt is full, as is the rinse aid and have not changed my tablets.

Sorry if this has been done to death but couldn't find anything in search.

Thanks.

Sounds like something is blocking the salt/rinse aid getting through ? my glass wear does this when the salt is empty.

does the residue taste of salt?

does it dissolve in hot water?

if you scrape it off and drop it in vinegar, does it fizz?

was there a vessel in the machine that was not upside-down (i.e. was full of water) at then end of the cycle?

Are you sure the water is getting hot enough during the wash?

was the detergent hatch blocked and prevented from opening fully. e.g. by a large pan?

has it happened again?

Thank you for your replies - the big clean and top up of salt/rinse aid etc seemed to do the trick. :)
