Which handheld vacuum would you recommend for stairs?

I am fed up of dragging my vacuum up and down stairs and want a nice handheld with a long cord.

Any suggestions?

Dyson eh? Will it cope with copious amounts of dog hair from my lovely german shepherd?

We've got a Dyson handheld but no dog, does the job for us though. If you bought one online you'd have a week to send it back if it wasn't up to the job?
