I have the VAX, it is great, does exactly what it describes, very easy to use as you control the amount of steam with the lever behind the handel. Floor dries very quickly, smear free. The cloth peals off the mop and is machine washable and it is amazing when you look at the cloth and see how much dirt it has cleaned up !!!

I love mine. It's the Lakeland one, but they don't do this model anymore.

No need for anything fancy - all they need to do is create steam quickly and have easy to remove & wash cloths and if you can get one that fits in the akward places all the better.

Don't get one with a million options or additional extras it will just put you off using it.

I agree with Chipping. I bought a beast of a machine with 7000 attachments. I've used it once. Blush.

Cheapest one from Asda Direct £30. Recommended by my mum and had a fab on line rating. Simple, practical and robust.

Brill - Thankyou. I have looked at the Vax which has just come back into stock at John Lewis and I will check out the Asda one.

I have one. It's ok but you have to vacuum really thoroughly first or you just move around the fluff and dust. Obviously you have to vac first with a normal mop but I find it picks up bits better. I still use the steam one, but don't actually prefer it over the normal one.

Out of interest, can I use a steam mop on hard wood floors?

MushroomSoup · 06/05/2012 21:18

Blondes I do, find it keeps them quite dry, no probs here!

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 07/05/2012 06:06

Surrounded - you are only supposed to use them on sealed wooden floors.

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 07/05/2012 06:16

chocolatespiders - HERE is the one I have. I bought it from Costco, but they don't do them anymore. I'm actually very tempted to buy another from eBay while they are still around and put it in the loft for the day mine departs to SteamMopHeaven it is that good.

The vax one is on offer in Argos at the moment....I bought it on Saturday and I almost like cleaning my floors now
