We live in a victorian terrace.

There is always so much dust, I have to dust everything all the time.

no idea

i also live in a victorian end of terrace (its 120 years old) and it really is one of the least dusty houses i have ever lived in (and is double the age of all other houses i have lived in)

Perhaps having a really good dyson helps? it means any dust is sucked right away and the house is hoovered every week

You don't you make friends with it.

My dust knows it has to hide in dark corners if visitors are due, but otherwise it's welcome.

Mine is a 1920s house and incredibly dusty. I've lived in lots of houses and this one is the dustiest.

I'm not on a busy road but we do have a cement works not far away and DD uses a lot of talc

I dust weekly but in the corners of some rooms that haven't been decorated for a while, the dust, coupled with the damp, has become a bit earthy (my house is lovely).

Sorry, not helpful at all Confused

I've found wiping furniture with a damp cloth after dusting helps ito keep it at bay for an extra couple of hours

Mine is also very dusty - not helped by having wooden floors and leather sofa, so you can see the dust - if you have carpet, you don't notice it. I end up hoovering (Miele if it makes a difference) several times a week because the dust bothers me. No-one warned me a Victorian house would need so much cleaning.

Two open fires, wooden floor, dog!!!!, i dust twice a week. ( super quick) ith microfiber. Was down once a month.
It irritates me also, esp on a sunny day.

Rainydayagain · 03/05/2012 15:58

Wash...ipad!

HecateTrivia · 03/05/2012 16:01

Vacuum and damp dust daily.

A squirt of polish and a cloth doesn't get rid of dust, it just blows most of it into the air, from where it will settle nicely again an hour later Grin

The only way to actually remove the dust from surfaces you can't vacuum is to use a wet (not sopping wet!) cloth.

We have a very old terrace home. I overlook dust until it tells me to clean it. Or I have people due around.

chipmunksex · 03/05/2012 19:19

dust daily!!! Shock

That just isn't going to happen

The dust is one of the period features.
