Someone help me!!!!

I have the worlds messiest house, two children (6months and 3) and one by annoying puppy. Im so disorganised I never seem to be able to clean up properly :( (no help from DH by the way)
Is there some kind of routine out there? That I can religiously follow (that isn't gina ford)

Sorry I am hopeless too if it makes you feel any better. And I have 4 dcs which is so much more messy than 2

I sometimes stand in the room, and imagine if a stranger walked in what would really embarrass me most about the room and sort that out first.

Clean surfaces always create an impression of tidyness. Ie clear tables and floors. Tidy piles of stuff tucked away.

Big nice looking baskets for chucking stuff into (can be sorted later/never)
