I LOVE my iron. I was lucky enough to be a Mumsnet tester for Philips about 2 years ago and I still witter on about how great an iron it is to anyone that listens! Blush

It is freakin' awesome.

It's a Morphy Richards jet steam

DP said it was a good buy as you get a mini facial while doing the ironing Grin

Once upon a time I used to get excited about a new bag.

Now it's irons and kitchen utensils!

I have a steam generator iron. My record is six washing machine loads in an hour with it!

My mum has one and swears by it. Seriously thinking about investing in one. Might have to search out 'Which?' and take a gander at their ratings.

I hate ironing with a vengeance so I don't but am starting to get back into clothes proper now that I've lost weight and DS doesn't posset any more.

Had my iron for 11 years and it's starting to die and I think I could kill it quite happily

Would you recommend steam generator? Can you turn the steam off for delicate items? And how much did yours cost (if you don't mind me asking?)

I need a new iron today (DH dropped the old one last weekend). I am really interested in recommendations.
So which Philips iron?
And what is a steam generator iron?

I bought mine in May 2007, and it's still fantastic. I would never go back to a no-steam-generator iron. It's so easy to iron everything, and so much quicker. Some things I only iron on the front and they look fine. I have to be a bit careful with delicate items, but I've found if I don't use the steam for them, then they're fine.

Mine was on offer, I think I paid about £110 for it, but it was well worth it!

This is mine,

but I don't think it's available any more.

Carpe I would definitely buy a steam generator iron! You don't need to turn the steam off for delicate items. When you iron, you press down with your finger under the handle and the steam comes out. I keep my finger down the whole time I am ironing. If you don't want steam for a certain item, just don't press the button, and the iron will not emit any steam, works fine for me!

I have MIL over for lunch and I am persuading her she NEEDS one Grin
