Please dont let me down ladies- how can I get rid of the smell of sick from my lovely son (3). He chucked up all over the frontroom carpet on Thursday. I've washed it thoroughly, tried putting bicarbonate of soda on it and have covered it with tumble drier sheets to try and mask the smell- but it still stinks. It's making me feel queasy just being in this room- please help me!

How long did you leave the bicarb on? I find it needs to be at least overnight and if a large stain really does need pretty much a full tub.

The other thing I find helpful are Chef's Candles - like these (there is a tealight version as well).

Oh, only an hour Blush
Oh how I wish I was slightly more domesticated! I'll shove some more on now- thank you

I'd try tipping some washing powder (dry) on it as well.

If all else fails, it might have to be a steam clean or alternatively hire a Rug Doctor. Or do you know anyone who owns a Vax or similar?
