Can you put off doing the ironing stuff until after they're gone? A handy cupboard to stuff it in just for now??

This was me just over a week ago. My super-tidy & clean freak friend was coming over to babysit and, much as I was looking forward dh & my first night out together in god knows how long, I was soooo tempted to put her off Blush

Good luck! You can do it.

just hide all the washing in the wardrobe. seriously, it doesn't need to be done for guests coming. can the clutter box just be hidden aswell? also teh same for toys. just chuck them in dc's rooms and close teh door, dont spend time sorting them.

RachelHRD · 27/04/2012 21:24

Don't bother with upstairs if they won't be going up there. Just do a quick bung all the crap into a cupboard tidy up, hoover, quick mop and fresh flowers and get yourself an early night. Hide all washing etc up in your bedroom!!

Have decided to do all the mopping/sweeping as one, last thing.
Going to ignore upstairs unless I get downstairs done quickly.
Would hide ironing, but need the uniforms at least done and will hide the rest. They are here until Monday and apparently it is the height of rudeness to iron in front of guests Hmm Hence the loads of washing tonight for vital school/work/gym stuff.

Having a fag coffee break and then back to it! Thanks for the support! :)

oh they are staying for the weekend? Shock

then yes you'll need to do upstairs too wont you? or at least the bathroom and their bedroom.

right to leave the floor stil last. you've managed a good chunk of it i think you'll get it all done. remember to take a break every so often.

PBandJSandwiches · 27/04/2012 22:04

Blush I am still on here. About to move my bum, I promise!

Yes, forgot to list bathrooms! Sigh.

Will have to do upstairs, but hopefully will bribe ask the DCs to help tomorrow first thing?

IAmBooyhoo · 27/04/2012 22:11

what time are guests arriving and what age are dcs?

PBandJSandwiches · 27/04/2012 22:49

Guests at 11. DC are of an age where they can be asked, but may not do! More likely to be running around sword fighting! Early primary school.

Good news is, DOWNSTAIRS IS DONE!! Have hidden most of the non essential ironing. Blush Decided that actually, in a family that works and have school age children, when you are a guest in our home, we ARE reasonable to do ironing for the week on a Sunday night so have put it neatly on the ironing board. Screw rudeness. especially for family who should know better, or at least understand Last load of washing going around now.

Have also managed to clear the landing so all I have to do is vacuum and bathrooms. Will bribe the dcs to do their rooms in the morning with chocolate, and I can crack on with the last two things. TBH, upstairs isnt too bad (except for dc bedrooms) anyway, so now downstairs is done I feel much better.

Bed time for me!! Hurrah!

WAHEY!! go you! Grin

i so agree with you WRT doing the essential ironing on sunday evening. i dont think your guests would mind that at all.

do the bathroom in the morning and hoover just before they arrive. dc's rooms dont have to be perfect but yes, suggest that they might want to straighten them up a bit in the morning. Grin

have a great, and if possible, relaxing weekend Grin
