How to get vaseline off upholstery?

Can anyone please advise me of the above? Toddler kindly finger painted vaseline all over my upholstered chair and carpet.

I'd scrape off as much as possible with a knife or similar then blot off any more with kitchen roll. You may then need to dab it with some diluted washing up liquid to get rid of the rest of the grease

Scrape off what you can then try putting a lot of talc on top to absorb the grease.

Thanks, unfortunately it was well massaged in. I have tried washing liquid with no success but may have to really lather it up and hope for the best!
