Residue on glasses in the dishwasher

Hello wise mumsnetters

My nearly new dishwasher leaves a brown sandy residue on some glasses after the wash. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Do you have salt and rinse aid in?

Take the arms off and clean them, you will need to poke about in the holes with a cocktail stick, and clean the filter.

Run the machine empty with a good handfull of soda crystals or white vinegar in.

I get the sandy residue when my dishwasher needs to be cleaned. It has been that way from pretty much day one!

Are you stacking correctly - not too full so that once the detergent and first lot of water has swished everywhere and left the dirty residue the rinse cysle can wash it off?
