Was about to put all of DS2's Happyland on eBay as he hasn't played with it for ages.

Have arranged it all into sets and now he is in his element driving diggers round the town - and I'm all sentimental about how lovely it all is.

But we need space.

What are your to tips for weeding out toys.

Eg. How many jigsaws does one child actually need Confused

Jigsaws none!

Happy street lots! Brio lots

Playmobile a whole houseful!!

At least that what gets played with here

Never had much luck with weeding out, except for being allowed to chuck Barbies which no one can dress without ripping their stupid tiny clothes.

11 yo has just got out all the happy street to drive small cars round, despite being a very fashion conscious girlGrin

Bumping this as I need all the tips I can get!

I have designated Thursday this week as toy clear out day, can barely walk across the bedroom floor at the moment and I am fed up of constantly nagging asking the children to tidy it all up.

the key is not to let them see it

my kids would love to own everything in ELC if they could, and i';m sure that at times they'd play beautifully with it... but at the end of the day when you need the space you need the space and something has to give.

I normally start by getting rid of anything they've outgrown.
Then move onto things you haven't seen them play with forever.
if you have lots of one thing then just keep a couple (ie puzzles)

when older 2 were at that age.....

i would wait until they were out. I would stick it all in bin bags. put bin bags in loft. if nobody asked for anything within the month, bags went to the tip.

its semi ruthless
