Thuka high sleeper

Are they any good? Looking to buy dd1 a new bed on eBay, & one option is a Thuka. It does look a bit sturdier than the Ikea alternatives!

I wanted a high sleeper for DS until I read a thread where everyone bitched about changing the sheets on bunk beds.

link to the one you want?

We seem to have appeased warring dds by turning the existing bunks through 90 degrees so each has one bunk & one side of the room, so the need for a new bed may no longer be there...

(Which also solves the bedmaking PITA!)

It's this one, though bed.

Not all that keen on the pine tbh, but does look a bargain.

they are good, we have one that was ds1's but he is now sharing with ds2 so they have bunks, as do ds3 and ds4.

we got ours secondhand and its very sturdy and will be selling our now unused one when i get round to advertising it!

5madthings · 21/04/2012 21:51

thats almost the same as the one we have and yes thats a good price, i think we paid about the same for our one second hand :)

I am still tempted!

It's basically because dd1 (6) is sick & tired of dd2 (4) trashing her things - we need to divide the room (or put one of them in the playroom, but we also use that for guests so not ideal.)

This evening we've moved their bunks so they're across the room rather than in a corner, so each now has one bunk & half the room, & they both seem quite happy with that actually!

Thanks both Smile.

We got a Thuka hi sleeper 2nd hand off ebay and it's fantastically sturdy.

frankie4 · 21/04/2012 22:01

I have a thukka mid sleeper which is the same but a bit lower and it is really sturdy and solid , much better than ikea. But it is continental sized so needs a longer mattress and longer fitted sheets (which they sell at Ikea).

thuka are fabulous, we have them. very versatile.

BUT be aware that thuka also make furniture for argos. The guy at the shop showed us the difference between them, the uprights on the Argos ones were about half the size of the "real" Thuka ones. and they are not modular either so you can't switch from shorty to full size, or mid to high sleeper etc

so I would make absolutely sure that what you are buying is a Thuka branded one, and not one of the cheaper ones they make for other people

that said, they are discontinuing the maxi range, so it could just be someone getting rid of ends of line?

It's this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thuka-high-sleeper-sofa-bed-desk-and-bookshelf-/261007435976?pt=Beds_Mattresses&hash=item3cc54168c8.

It's secondhand, private seller moving house.

bugger - had just sensibly agreed with dh that it wasn't necessary & we could spend the money on a nice new desk & rugs instead, & now you lot are selling it to me all over again! Grin.
