Large Kitchen Bin

After a small discussion large argument with DP regarding who empties the bin this time, he asked if we could not get a bigger bin. Not a problem, but as my current bin is average size (30L), I wonder what the biggest one is that you can get and the best one (if there is such a thing when it comes to a bin?)

Any ideas?

I have a stupidly expensive oxo 40L bin bought after 2 brabantias gave up the ghost. (Stupid little plastic catch kept lid shut.) I love my bin!!!

Wolfiefan · 21/04/2012 17:49

But then I'm sad!

SauvignonBlanche · 21/04/2012 17:54

I've just bought a 50 litre Brabantia.
Very expensive though! Blush
I saw one I wanted more, that was cheaper but I thought 30L wouldn't be enough.

craigslittleangel · 21/04/2012 17:59

Apparently mine is not a 30L (!!) so no idea if there is a bigger one, as have no idea what size mine is.

I have a lot of Brabantia in the house Sauvignon, find them really worth the money (as I hide recipt from DP).

The oxo one looks good, Wolfie, but may need something larger.

have had 40l one for yrs and empty it once or twice a week

Mine is like this

Pedal bins are great. My cream Brabantia still going strong after bout 10 years. Not sure of size - comes up to thigh level

ArcticRoll · 22/04/2012 16:02

50 litre push lid Brabantia-had mine for eight years.

I have a rotho one. I find it helpful as I put recycling in one side and general rubbish in the other one

Ponders · 22/04/2012 17:14

FWIW I reckon you can get a lot more in a short fat bin than in a tall thin one, even if the tall one is officially bigger.

(but we recycle almost everything)

LittleStranger · 23/04/2012 15:25

We have a huge brabantia, which holds loads of rubbish but is a pain as the weight can be a bit much when emptying. This is the only chore where I pull the 'little woman' act and ask DH to do it...

craigslittleangel · 23/04/2012 19:19

I have pointed out to OH that actually just emptying it more regularly would be better. But then the bottom feel off the bin!

Thanks for your suggestions.

30 litre brabantia pedal bin- pedal bin more hygenic imo and easier to use if your hands are full. Wouldn't bother with any other type.
