Can you use Soda Crystals instead of Calgon?

I always use Calgon (well, supermarket cheaper version) but would Soda Crystals do the same job? They're even cheaper...

well that's what i use, small scoop in every wash, and then occaionally a cupful on a 90 degree (empty) wash.

also helps with your whites.

I use it & yes I put mine in with the detergent. Dont know if that's right though

I put in in the drawer with a normal wash, and in the drum if I do a hot/empty wash.
