How do I get these marks off my favourite saucepan?

I put pasta on to boil then started watching Jurassic Park with the DC and (muppet) forgot about the pasta.

It boiled dry and went very black! Have scraped out the pan but it has black marks all over it. Any magical ways to get them out?

is it aluminium, iron or stainless?

is it enamelled or non-stick?

have you got a dishwasher?

Oh sorry, guilty of drip-feeding!

It's stainless steel, lovely Cuisinox pan. Not enamelled or non-stick. No diswasher. (apart from me!)

Have you got any Coke?

Pour some in to cover the goo. It will be all better by the morning.

Sad no coke here.

Have things like bicarb of soda?

stainless is very durable. Boil it up with a bit of washing powder (I'd say a dishwasher tablet if you had one) then next day scrub it out with a green nylon scourer and a bit of WUL. You can even use wire wool on stainless if necessary, but a scourer should do. You may have to rub quite hard.

I've never used coke so I don't know.

Cool thanks will try that.
