Shoe Storage HELP!

Our hallway is literally about a metre and a half long and a metre wide. As you open the front door the stairs are directly in front of you, the living room door is to the side. Our driveway is a disgrace, it's a rented house so there isn't anything we can do about it, but it means that when we walk into the house we drag all the crap off the driveway in with us. The pram (folded up) also lives in this hallway as there is nowhere else for it to go.

Through the living room is the only way to get to the kitchen and the backdoor and so everything gets trampled through it. I have already lost a perfectly good rug because of the heavy traffic [grr].

So my problem is where do I keep our most regularly used shoes. The majority of our shoes are kept in the bedroom but for instance my trainers, work shoes and dh's boots are pretty much always downstairs. On the floor. Looking untidy and getting in the way.

I am about to implement a no shoes in the house rule but I'm stuck for storage that will fit in our tiny hallway. I was thinking something than could hook over the back of the living room door would be perfect but I can't find anything that looks like it won't fall to pieces. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you have room for an Ikea shoe cabinet (have a look on the website) then I would really recommend one. It has made a huge difference to our hall: no more shoes scattered everywhere, I never OK, rarely, have to search the house for a missing shoe in the morning. The cabinet we have is tall-ish but narrow and not very deep, so hardly takes up any room either.

I'll have a look at those thank you Wink

Use cupboard doorknobs as hooks and hang by heel - sole out is not so attractive so if you prefer those with laces can be hung by their laces over the same knob...

(oh btw you may have to drill through the knobs OR cut the head of screws to screw into them and then pointy end into the wall/rawlplug..)

I have the over the door pocket shoe store as they are great - I use it not just for shoes but for scarfs, gloves, hats etc.

We use a plastic tub and the shoes are just flung into it (or scattered around it!)
