'Dry flat' - HOW?

How are you supposed to go about drying things that are 'dry flat' Layer with towels in the hot cupboard?

No, roll up in old towels a couple of times, then drape over wire clothes airer or laundry basket in bath. One can buy gadget which is mesh square with plastic poles along each hem, or make one from net curtain & dowelling, surprisingly useful.
