how to take care of wooden kitchen worktop

we have a new wooden work-topped kitchen and I'm not sure whether I can use normal products on it. I usually just use Cif anti-bacterial but although it doesn't say anything on the label i am wondering if it might be a bit harsh for wood. In my old house the wooden worktop gradually faded and I think it might have been beacause i cleaned it too much!! We did oil it every few months but it still became very faded - bit like a scrubbed top Blush

How can I make sure my new wooden workstop stays looking lovely for years?!

Thank You!

Just a soft cloth with a little washing up liquid/soapy water on. We just had one fitted and that was the care instruction. HTH.

Hi I had mine for 7 years until we moved.
Danish oil every 6 months WITHOUT fail! I used plenty and saturated the wood and left to dry overnight. Then use as normal!

Thanks very much for the tips. Keeping it dry seems to be essential too to stop the wood dampening and blackening.

Looks nice though :)
