Just added post to end of TKMaxx thread, but no reply, although am certain we have experts on this subject.
Flat sheet purchased recently only has tiny label , SX T3,
plus red thread running along sides, very soft and light but can';t even tell if cotton or linen, or if I should buy more while available at amazing price.
Would someone please tell me something about this item - I know MNers know absolutely everything about every subject under the sun , and would really like to know.

I'd be surprised if it's actually linen. More likely to be cotton.

If you like it, buy more! Grin

You bought vintage bed linen in TK Maxx?

Bought it in Oxfam, originally for a friend, but might keep it for myself (and take something into charity shop to make space for it).

I'm leaning towards Linen personally, Old linen is meant to be wonderful to sleep on, much softer than cotton.

I would take it into a dry cleaners, a good one not a chain one, and say you are unsure if this is linen or cotton. I have always found them really usefull like that.

Failing that, look up linen care on the internet. I think linen is meant to be stronger than cotton. I'm sure that I have seen special linen cleaners on the internet too but something like woolite or soap flakes might suffice.

Thanks for info. Can just remember Glass Cloths, drying cloths which had these words woven through in either green or red, and believe red ones signified linen (but it's a long time ago) might be reason for red sewn line.
Thanks for your tip, Fluffy. Have got some linen pillow-cases which are similarly smooth but not as fine/thin.
