I am using persil small and mighty and the liquid doesn't seem to dissolve well at 40 deg, all my darks come out with residue marks, my machine appears to be heating up ok, anyone else have this problem?

I don't think it's your machine, but the detergent. Liquid is meant to be crap for your washing machine - it accumulates into a sludge behind the seals and in the pipes, and doesn't have bleach in it like powder so the sludge smells and makes your machine and washing stink in the end.

It may be that there's some sort of detergent sludge perhaps building up behind the door seal or something, and that's getting on to the clothes (as well as it just not dissolving very well at lower temperatures)

Try running a maintenance wash (there was a very exciting thread about those on here the other week Grin and using powder in a few washes, see if that fixes it. If it is, you know it's the liquid detergent.

Cruci, I'm still trying to calm down from the excitement of that thread Grin

I would run through some white vinegar, then go back to powder. The liquid does tend to sludge up the machine.
