Rust stains in a toilet! Any suggestions to remove?!!

We had our kitchen done a month ago and I was washing up in the sink in the bathroom (well in the washing up bowl, in the sink).

I then poured the dirty dishwater down the toilet and flushed.......except once I didn't and as I had used a metal scourer on a dirty pan bits of flaked off metal sat in the bottom and now I can see rust marks in the bottom of the toilet!

I have tried normal toilet cleaner, the strong cillit bang one and they are still there. Any suggestions to ge rid of them?

I have to admit I haven't put my hand in and scrubbed them yet, just given them a good scrub with the loo brush.....

go to a motorists accessory shop and buy a bottle of Jenolite rust removing acid. Not any of the other rust treatment products.

slosh out all the water from the bend of your WC down the drain by pushing it to and fro with the brush. Sponge out any remaining water and dry the stain thoroughly with kitchen roll.

Put on your eye protectors and rubber gloves, pour some of the acid onto the stain, put a bit of kitchen roll down so it will be wetted by the acid and will stick to the stain. Keep the kitchen toll wet with acid for half an hour or so, so it does not dry out.

remove the k/roll and inspect. Repeat if necessary.

your stain has probably soaked into the glaze, so takes time. If a rust stain is very slight it will sometimes come off just by rubbing with the acid.

have a basin or bucket of clean water handy so you can immediately wash off any acid splashes from skin or clothes.
