Oven cleaning nightmare! Please help!

Hello,

I haven't ever posted in this section but hope someone can come to my rescue! Have a new cleaner, bit of a luxury and never had one before. She used Fairy Power Spray to do the inside of our fairly new and quite expensive oven. Said it's the best thing ever for cleaning ovens. Brilliant.

Except now I am too scared to use the oven because when I put it on to preheat, the whole kitchen filled with a hideous fumy smell and my mouth and nose feel like they're on fire.

Secondly (totally my fault) I just had a flick through the oven manual and it seems we have self cleaning back and sides, and you are not supposed to clean them ("CAUTION: DO not use oven cleaner on self cleaning sides or they will be damaged!" etc etc)

So a) how do I get rid of the smell so I can start cooking again! And b) have I totally wrecked my beautiful new Bosch oven?

Help!

Not sure but i'd be rinsing it thoroughly and contacting Bosch ! Or even ask John Lewis staff as they know everything and are well trained

My cleaner did this once in my Rangemaster, it smelt weird. The smell did go after a day or two.

Ditto all the above. Rinse what you can and then put the oven on a very high heat for an hour with all the doors and windows open. That should burn off any remaining cleaner.
I almost did the same as you but I rang Cannon first and realises I only need to clean the glass. It was all in the manual.. Blush
