Kim and Aggie used to use white vinegar for everything.. so I made my OH pick me up 2 bottles. I'm going to put a hot 90'C wash on the washing machine and add half a cup of the vineger to 'clean' inside the washing machine. Any ideas how I could use it in the rest of the house Grin

In the dishwasher- run on empty with a cup of vinegar on top shelf.
Descale anything with lime scale. I've done kettle, shower head and hose, taps, dish-type bits in bath where water pools.
Spoons stained with tea etc came up nicely as well.

That should keep you going for a bit! Grin

Oh I will try all of them apart from dishwasher as I am the dishwasher Grin if I add it to water and mop my floor will it give it a shine? or will it strip the shine..Hmm

A few ideas here.

Baking soda is bicarbonate of soda.

Don't use it neat on floors except for individual stains.

Capful in your washing machine instead of fabric conditioner.

Added to bicarb of soda and mixed into a thick paste - scrub on grout to clean it.

In a spray bottle (50/50 with water) for cleaning solution.

Sorry to hijack thread but can you use white vinegar to descale a steam steriliser? I keep getting white bits floating in the bottom after each use :S

Hobs · 29/03/2012 17:15

It's really good mixed with bicarb as an oven cleaner and also for shifting grease of kitchen tiles I got those tips from How Clean Is Your House years ago they have never failed me!

mathanxiety · 29/03/2012 17:17

I know you can use it to descale a steam iron and the inside of a kettle, so maybe it would work for a steriliser too.

Flisspaps · 29/03/2012 17:58

OrangeCrushed I don't see why not, ours came with packets of citric acid to use which I think works in much the same way.

I use it in my microwave steriliser - just leave it to soak.

I also use it on my electric steriliser but that broke shortly afterwards. I'm not sure it was the vinegar that did it but don't want to be responsible for breaking yours. Shock
