My ds has finally demolished the paper lampshade with his bad aim and we need to replace it... I really like enclosed lamp shades where you can't see the bulb but sick of paper globes. Any suggestions?

we have drum lightshades with a glass difuser (basically a disc that srews on) on the bottom - i hate seeing the bulb so this solves the problem and also cuts the glare.

not sure how your ds demolished the paper shade though - maybe glass wouldn't be a good idea!

Thank you - never heard of a drum light shade or diffuser before - so googling that has opened up a world of possibilities! Thanks for the tangled wire suggestion - looking for that too - sounds v robust.

DS (4) has hearing and behaviour issues so delete "bad aim" of OP and replace with "intentional good aim" and you'll know what I really meant... Blush

We have these in two rooms, which I think look really nice and reasonably priced: www.diy.com/nav/decor/lighting/indoor-lighting/light_shades/-colourderived%3Ewhite/Colours-by-B-and-Q-Rosa-Moulded-PVC-Shade-White-10867638 - you can't see bulb sticking out and made of plastic so hopefully pretty robust!
