Can Converse trainers go in the washing machine?

Or will I turn them into weird misshapen things?!

If I can, what setting is best, and should they go in on their own or with something soft to cushion them? They're not filthy, just a bit grubby.

Preparing for wearing them every day now the weather is starting to become a bit more cheery!

lurking - as DD's newest favourite possession is the pink converse that DH brought her from the US and I can already forsee traumas when they get filthy.

I throw them in the machine on a fairly regular basis.

A quick 30 wash with a slow spin usually does the trick!

Converse are hardy things! Mine get washed on a frequent basis.
It's the only way to keep mine white!!Grin

Desperate to wash my lovely cut away ones ,do you put them in a pillow case or just loose? Also what's the best way to dry them

PersonalClown · 19/03/2012 11:31

Air drying is best as tumble dryers can warp the rubber.
A pillow case is good but I'd suggest towels to protect the machine.

Right, I've just put about six pairs of pumps and a couple of towels in on a short 30 wash with a slow spin, so hopefully they'll be shiny and my machine will still be in one piece at the end!

I wash mine in a 40 wash with clothes very fast spin, always come up fine, always air dry though, no tumbling.

The3Bears · 19/03/2012 12:45

I always wash ds's converse regularly aswell, on a 40 wash with other bits and air dry them or put them on radiators they're fine

What about the souls of the shoes? Do they get ruined? And do I take the laces out? And do I put them in a laundry bag/net?

SavoyCabbage · 19/05/2015 04:58

I always leave the laces in. The soles are always fine. Not damaged and glowing white.
