I wash mine regularly at 40 degrees. I love the fresh smell when it comes out!

smartiesrule · 17/03/2012 12:17

Linen ones you can wash, I did mine at 60 degrees. Don't bother with plastic ones though, I would just buy a new one from ASDA for £1 or so.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/03/2012 12:19

Yes, it is even recommended on the packet (no it is not lazy). Once a month with bio powder at 30C.

TheMonster · 17/03/2012 12:19

I put mine in every couple of months. You can hang it straight back up to dry as well.

SparkyMcSparrow · 17/03/2012 12:19

It plastic.
I did think about buying a new one, but thought I'd make the effort to be a good housewife first Grin

Asda it is!

I assumed plastic (don't put at 40 or even less 60 C it will melt)

SparkyMcSparrow · 17/03/2012 12:23

Confused Didn't think about the melting!
I might try at 30, can't go wrong! Can it?

Ok with Non bio? Tis all I have!

smartiesrule · 17/03/2012 12:25

30 may be okay. It might come out crinkled though. Good luck.

SparkyMcSparrow · 17/03/2012 12:27

smarties You are making me nervous!

OP posts:
LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/03/2012 12:30

It does come out "crinkled", you should hang it straight back and it gets back to normal.
Honestly it is written on the pack when you buy them.
I kept mine about 3 years before they gets little holes & faded printed.
I works better with the bio if there is a lot of gunk, but non bio should be fine (or the other way a around Confused)

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/03/2012 12:31

It I don't work with the bio Grin or am I?

WhenDoISleep · 17/03/2012 12:31

Yes - ours is plastic and the care label recommends washing at 40 deg with some fabric softener. I usually throw in a small towel or a couple of tea towels as well, to provide a bit of friction to help loosen up any grime.

SparkyMcSparrow · 17/03/2012 12:34

I don't look at the packets Blush I normally just wing it, but if I wash it and melt ruin it it means I will have to go out and get another one and I cba!

Its not that dirty, just starting to look like it iykwim. I wouldn't want someone to see it, they would think I was a slattern Shock I'm very good at hiding it Grin

just do at 30 in case it is a different plastic. Trust us (I have 10 year + of experience...)
plus life is too short to scrub plastic shower curtains Wink

SparkyMcSparrow · 17/03/2012 12:48

Ok. 30 C, non bio! Got it.

Got to get the bloody thing off the hooks first Confused

Ive got an anti-bacterial one, made by Croydex.
The washing instructions say to iron it on a low heat when its dry to prolong the anti mould properties? Im a bit dubious.
I will probably end up with a nice iron shaped hole in it!

Our shower curtain has the coloured curtainy part which hangs outside the bath to look pretty and the white showerproof lining to hang inside the bath.

That has washing temp of 40C but not to use fabric conditioner.

I put it in a mesh bag (it has plastic rings) in a light colour wash then hang up.

Some of the cheap ones smell really plastic-ey and make me feel bleurgh. This one is from Dunelm Mill. A bit ££ but we've had it years. Still looks good
