About to move into a new rented apartment which has laminate flooring throughout.

I hadn't had to deal with laminate for a few years, and I disliked it then - but was before a toddler in my house Grin

I have a Henry hoover which I love (I chat to him whilst I vacuum!), so he will be whizzed round for major dust, but what is best for quick tidy ups?

Also, for washing floors - I detest mopping with all my heart, so should i get a swiffer thing for wet wipes?

I have laminate:

  • Dry microfibre mop for normal dust/ pet hair (NOT gravel/grit or you just push it round!)
  • Vaccuum cleaner for grit plus normal dust/pet hair (NOT normal sweeping brush or the dust part goes everywhere!)
  • Steam mop for, errrr, mopping. Or a wet microfibre mop if ££ an issue

P.S. a dry microfibre mop head is totally different to a wet one - the dry one is thicker and they work differently. Don't just add water!

HTH!

oooh, should have mentioned my most recent purchase.... the Gtech cordless sweeper. It replaces the dry mop/ vacuum cleaner, but I don't find it does corners or edges well. Great other than that!

I absolutely love this floor cleaner for my laminates, but still looking for the killer mop - if there is such a thing!

Gemma, which steam mop do you have?

gemma4d · 16/03/2012 19:31

It's a ... ... Vax S2. There was some confusion over whether it was suitable for laminate but turns out it is.

Marvellous, thanks for the replies Smile

Need to get saving for a suitable steam mop now!
