We are doing up our flat and I've been wondering about the quality of ikea's kitchen units.
Have you got one? How long have you had it for? What do u think of it?
Thanks

This is the 2nd kitchen thread in a few days!

Not had Ikea myself, but friends have, and it's quite good quality. I find the ranges a bit boring tho, and it's a reallty complicated proceedure to order everything you need.

Oh! Where is that other kitchen thread I cannot find it... ?

I had IKEA kitchen in previous house. Was fab and cheap. Certainly as good as if not better quality than other DIY chains kitchens.
The base units do not have a service void at the back which is great for giving you more storage space, but not so great if you need to run cables/pipes between them and the wall.
Was not difficult to order in store. They should talk you through everything you need to order and can recommend fitters.

We fitted one in our old house and were very happy with it. It depends what Market you are in for kitchens, we were looking at the cheaper end so looked at b&q, howdens, homebase and wicked etc. Ikea was cheaper by a mile, at least equal in quality and had a 25yr guarantee. we did get solid wood work tops from somewhere to make it look a bit nicer.

We fitted an Ikea kitchen and it was superb. Highly recommend.

We have one and love it - especially the pan drawers.

Mumdebump thanks for letting me know about the lack of space for pipes.

We had a howdens kitchen in our old flat. I just can't seem to find middle priced kitchens. It is either ikea/howdens or very expensive ones ....

Have you looked at Wickes? They are middle priced. I am going for a Howdens kitchen this time - they are good quality ( the more exp range anyway) but also looked at B&Q, Homebase, Screwfix, Benchmarx...

I have an Ikea kitchen (well the cupboards). It is 14 years old and has moved house once. The cupboards are fine, sturdy and the doors (birch) still look good. Hope that helps.

I have Ikea larder cupboards. I love them and will be pulling out the rest of the kitchen later this year and replacing it to match the larders. They're good and sturdy with loads of room.
