Getting rubber on trainers white again

How can I get the rubber around and across toe of a pair of trainers white again?

You can see the colour they used to be and I want to restore them back so i can put them on eBay. Tried washing machine, which got the uppers clean, but not the rubber.

Would rather not have to buy trainer whitener cream, as this is the only pair in the house and they are being sold! (were given to us by a friend, but not something I would buy as I'm a snob )

not bleach, it makes rubber and soft plastics perish.

you could try a nailbrush and soap.

cif cream is quite good.

Thanks for replies - will give Cif a go, at least I can use rest of the bottle for other stuff Smile

I use Cif - the original Jif creamy one, not the spray - and I think its great.

Vim, if they still make it!

I use toothpaste for the rubber on white tennis shoes
