How to get dark foundation out of a cream carpet?

DS has somehow got his hands on a tester size Lancome foundation in a really dark colour, and squeezed it in splodges over his cream bedroom carpet (carpet was down when we bought the house - I wouldn't have chosen cream for a 4 yo!). Of course it is right by the door, and no way of covering it up with a rug, in five huge splodges, so I need to get it out.

I've tried 1001 upholstery and carpet cleaner but its made zero difference.

I would never have imagined how much foundation could be in a tester tube.

Any ideas please?

Washing up liquid?

FloydieDoydie · 15/03/2012 13:31

A creamy wash off cleanser? I use Clinique foaming cleanser on my face, and it's den known to remove greasy stains off clothes, so it's worth a try Grin

Washing up liquid isn't touching it, so I will try the foaming cleanser.

DS got some on his socks (he must have walked through it) and the socks have been through the wash with Vanish, and there is still foundation on the bottoms. So I'm not holding out much hope! Damn.

...and we put this stuff on our face! Confused

WHat about shaving foam? Worth a try!

Baby wipes!

Olive oil then vanish carpet cleaner.

I second the baby wipes - they remove any/everthing.

Although you may have already 'set' the stain. :(

Make up remover. Or eye make up remover.

Good old fashioned flash liquid, diluted. Spray on and rub in with a cloth, then blot with just water.

Bleach? I don't know actually, I'd like to know myself. I once spilled a small blodge of foundation on a cream duvet cover, it has been through the wash loads of times and the stain still remains - quite amazing.

The carpet cleaner in the pink spray bottle - you are not supposed to rub it with a brush or cloth, as this fuzzes up the carpet fibres, and can spread the stain, but I recently attacked a mark which had not come up with normal treatment, and was annoying me, and rubbed the spray in with my fingertips. It did not frizz the fibre, and the stain actually did come out. I believe it was hair dye from when my DSis was staying, although that has not been admitted
