Is there anything I can use to make the grout in my shower lovely and white again? Bleach is not doing the trick.

A grout pen. Should be avalible in most DIY type places I'd imagine, Homebase and the like. It's certainly not szomething I've seen down the local tesco anyhow, but that's what'll do the job

We used Domestos GrotBuster. It is a really thick bleach that clings so if you put a bit at the top it runs down the grout like a snail trail. Leave for a bit then scrub with a toothbrush and rinse off.. Next day it looks even whiter as the bleach keeps going.

I find it hard to get this stuff at the moment, but it is brilliant. Our shower got mouldy from poor ventilation and this stopped us getting it re-grouted.

dettol mould and mildew remover from the supermarket - spray on and leave to work. Stinks but is v effective

amazonianwoman · 13/03/2012 20:46

I second the Dettol mould & mildew. Fabulous stuff Smile

I third the Dettol mould and mildew stuff. I sometimes help it along with a rub with an old toothbrush after it has been soaking. It cleans the grout beautifully.

You must leave a window open when you do it though.

HG mould spray from Lakeland is the best, tried all of the above as well as a steam cleaner and this is the only thing that got my grout properly clean, and with minimum effort.

Sinkingfeeling · 13/03/2012 21:12

Yes, HG mould spray is the only thing we've found to work too. Spray it on, leave for a while, come back and wipe off. You can get it in Homebase, and other hardware stores as well as Lakeland.

RatDesPaquerettes · 13/03/2012 22:12

Does HG mould spray also work on silicon seals?

lottiegb · 13/03/2012 22:58

scrub, then grout pen - it's like colouring in with tippex.

greenbananas · 14/03/2012 06:27

Thanks ladies - that's really useful. I am off to buy some mould spray Smile

HG does work on silicone, you can't leave it on as long as you can on grout and tiles but you can rinse and reapply, although I have never had to as it works so well.

RatDesPaquerettes · 14/03/2012 17:03

Thanks a lot, notso. Much appreciated! I will try to get my grubby hands on the HG stuff then!

Yep - another vote for Dettol mould & mildew. When I first used it I thought it was rubbish (followed instructions) but my friend kept saying how fab it was ... I had been following waiting times but she said just whack a load on and leave it till mould magically disappears - much more sensible! Do take heed of safety instructions though as it can make you feel bloody awful if you don't use it in a well ventilated room ( I put a DIY mask on when I use it following one particularly bad experience!)
