Anyone ever rented one of their machines? Was it any good?

Really need to give our carpets a clean as they're appalling geting a little dirty but can't afford to have someone come in and do it.

yes we have used the one from B&Q 2-3 times now, just on some rugs though not on carpets. They do a good job, the hand held add on bit is good too for hard to reach areas, furnature etc. Definately worth a try I think!

Warning: The results will make you feel very, very dirty! Grin

Definately recommend it. My cream carpet, looks beautiful again, after a run over with the Rug Doctor! Not too much hard work to do either.

Very, very good. We did the sofas also and they came up brilliantly, having been shamefully filthy before Blush I try and wait until the weather's a bit warmer though so I can keep all the doors open to try and get it dry quickly, otherwise it can smell a bit yucky.

open the windows. Fresh air takes moisture away. Heat doesn't (and warm air rises so floors will always be the coldest part of the room)

you can run the machine over the carpet a second time, as "suck not squirt"

I found it amazing too but it did take 3 goes and lots of hard work to get a sofa we inherited clean. Mind you, it came from a house with dogs who used to sit on it (not very obedient) and had a couple of drinks spilled on it. After 3 goes it is ok, but if I'd had time for another I think it would have been great!

I read on here that you can use cheaper alternatives to the detergents they market but I chickened out after signing the legal stuff!

go over the carpet a couple of times on suction after you have finished and it gets tons more water out -almost to the point of being touch dry

they are really good and upholstery kit works really well on stairs and in corners etc
