stinky highchair

I am engaging in baby led weaning which is going really well. The only downside is that dd's very fancy all singing and dancing high chair (kindly purchased by grandma) is really difficult to clean. Food ends up smeared into the straps and all the nooks and crannies. I spend 30 minutes of my precious down time every day scrubbing and by the following morning it still smells really bad. The straps are all stained, stink and never dry out by the next meal. Are there any magic cleaning products anyone can suggest? I do put babe in a bib but food seems to migrate underneath!!! :-). I have tried vanish.

thats why I switched to the cheap ikea antilop highchair as it has no nooks and crannies and is easy to clean

I spray mine with the Tommee Tippee antibacterial stuff when I wipe it down - that seems to do the trick.

My DS wears one of those long sleeved smock bib things to eat. I put him in the high chair, strap him in, then put on the bib, so no food comes in contact with the straps.

I do a quick wipe down and learn to live with the stained straps. Dd has yet to catch some horrible illness from my slatternly ways. I do a proper deep clean maybe once a week.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely get some bibs with sleeves, dettol spray and might try and make covers..........I thought about being very lazy and. wrapping them in tin foil but that might end badly with a trip with baby up to accident and emergency. I have four weeks to figure something out before grandma's visit :-) xx

I unscrewed the straps and put them in the washer after dd was sick on them. Shock
They came out like new! Grin
It was their first wash in 2.5yrs/ 2dc! Blush
