Help! Shower Gel on the carpet

I have just come upstairs to find the shower gel I had left in a shopping bag has leaked all over the landing carpet - does anybody have a good method for cleaning it up?

A flannel and a bowl of clean water. Scoop as much up as you can then keep rubbing and rinsing it out. It is just a basic detergent so you can clean the carpet while you are on!
