Hope that this is the right place to post and that someone has sage advice to offer!
I had a jumper which had gloss paint on it, so being a clever little soul I sponged it with white spirit before putting in to the washing machine with my load of coloured washing.
Big mistake, huge!
Everything that came out of the washing machine smells of white spirit (even after a second wash) and now the washing machine drum also smells of white spirit!
I have tried putting the clothes through on the hottest setting but have now run out of ideas how to rectify. I don't want to have to buy a new machine if I can help it - this one is less than a year old (after previous machine got damaged by escaping underwire!).
