update to cleaning waching machine drawer thread...

Right, so I've cleaned the drawer with toothbrush and water, tis spotless. Have scrubbed out drawer compartment with t'brush. But it has so many ridges, I can't wipe out all the gunk.

I filled the drawer with soda crystals and the drum in the hope that the splashing about would help clear the residue.

Done a 95 deg wash. All looks fairly clean. Still some gunk in compartment but I think that will clear.

Inspected the door seal and behind the seal into the drum. Gasp, disgusting.

Tried to toothbrush the thick gunk away but am left with lots of black still and there's gunk (albeit a more pleasant cream colour) behind seal under drum that I can't get to.

Running another 95 deg wash with persil liquid. Hoping that this will break it down and flush out. Is there any other amazing product I can add to drum to give it an absolute scrubbing?

Have you tried it with vinegar in the drum?

Vinegar or soda crystals. You can buy washing machine cleaners too but they are not as good IMHO.

Your not supposed to - but I would rub around where the mould is with some diluted bleach to try and kill it. Then rinse it very well.

I think the trick is to clean it all reguarly, not use too much powder and keep the door open to air the drum when not in use.

Can you put the drawers in a dishwasher?

I think you can, I havn't done it but I'm sure it has been mentioned on threads here before. I would scrub off the tickest gunk then put it through the dishwasher!
