Wooden guitar scratched :(

Teenage DD just bought herself a v expensive guitar last week. A friend of hers has managed to make two deep scratches in the wood (it's a mahogany case) and DD is devastated. Any ideas how to make it look like new again?

You could spend an age useing the correct materials to gently rub it back and stain it but 2 things ; rubbing it back will slightly alter depth off wood ,staining correctly ,very difficult to get right 1st time ,same with a filler.I would look out for a music retailer where the owner is a musician and pref. "older" and ask advice, also ,could ask a french polisher their opinion, if it"s acoustic ? be VERY picky re repair ! lots of "wise sage" advice first.if it were mine.Hope this helps.

for a homestyle fix, you can rub a walnut over the scratches- it works very well but obviously not as good as pro job. Might ease the devastation in the meantime while you look for a more permanent fix?
