I want one. Most of my downstairs is wood effect laminate... Could a steam mop be used on this? Rest is carpet... Am guessing I can't use on carpet?

If it can be used on the above surfaces which one do you recommend?

Watching with interest as I also have lots of laminate. I think they are ok on sealed laminate but I don't know how to tell if it's sealed

I use a Vax steam mop on my laminate floor. I have no idea if it's sealed or not but it comes up nice and streak free. I also had a Black and Decker steam mop but it was pants and left floor very streaky.

Lakeland has a steam mop Their last version got great reviews. I have a steam cleaner (not mop style) and used it on some wood furniture I was renovating, it did no harm but I did give it a while and good ventilation to dry off.

I use the Shark steam mop on every floor downstairs, which includes Karndean, Kahrs oiled wood floor, porcelain tiles and marble tiles.

They all come up really well and feel clean underfoot as well as look clean.

My only problem is the bloody mop now has some kind of blockage and fires steam out of the base of the canister rather than channelling into the mop head - unfortunately I don't have my receipt because the nice lady on the phone said they will send me a replacement.

Oh the link above takes you to the shark mop.

Isn't there one on the mumsnet recommends thingy this month?

I saw a steam mop on one of those infomercials that you could use as a handheld, a mop for hard floors and carpets. It looked really good but as I can't actually remember the name of it I'm not much use to you. I'm sure you could google it.

DorisVinyard · 21/02/2012 12:45

I've got this one 'tis very good.

The infomercial one is the Thane Direct H20 x5

I've got a black and decker one which works well on our sealed wood floors. It has a carpet glider attachment so you can clean rugs and carpets too if you so wish
