Please tell me I haven't buggered DH's new saucepan!

DH had some WMF saucepans for Christmas. I've just used a couple of them for the first time and one of them now has alphabet pasta marks and white spots on the bottom of it ? aagghh. Please tell me this is normal and I haven't managed to ruin it already.

I'm slightly paranoid having been read the instructions about how to use them more than once but don't think I did anything wrong ? in fact I was so worried about having the heat too high the pasta went completely off the boil at one point.

I am not going to be popular if I've damaged it!!

WMF? Confused

SusiaX · 17/02/2012 18:29

It's a German brand of pans, they're stainless steel ones.

It's probably just salt residue then. If it's SS I doubt they are damaged.

if they're stainless, you can polish up the inside with a green nylon scourer and a bit of WUL.

Water marks disappear if you put a bit of water in and boil it.

White spots might be limescale.

Once they have been used and cleaned a few tines they are not going to look showroom.

If the outsides are brushed stainless (but not Mirror finish) a green scourer will not be noticable.

Thank you! Fortunately he's not bothered so all is well.

White vinegar should remove the limescale and pasta marks.
