Washing machine making yellow marks on clothes?

Does anyone have any idea why my washer is leaving yellow marks on clothes?

It doesn't do it on every wash but every now and then things come out with yellow marks on and there's nothing yellow been in the wash for the colour to run.

Any ideas on what it could be or how to stop it?

sometimes it is oil or grease. More likely I suppose if you work in a chip shop. The oil goes yellow when it oxidises.

Try giving the machine a Maintenance wash to remove any buildup of sludge.

Start with a HOT HOT HOT cotton wash with just white towels and NO powder. This will wash away any residual soap and fabsoft in the tub. If it foams up, that will be the old soap washing out, and any other material mixed in with the sludge. Do it again until it doesn't foam.

If it doesn't foam or show any signs of soap residue, give it another hot wash with Ariel Bio (it is apparently very strong and good for cleaning tubs). Some people prefer to use Washing Soda.
