So the insurance is paying out for an exchange on my existing washer/dryer and I am going to get a washer only in it's place. It needs to be integrated and from Hotpoint/indiset so and recommendations?

Tia

do your best to get a Bosch if you possibly can. Price should be similar (let me know the budget and I can look up Which best buys). If you have to put in £20 or something out of your own pocket it will be worth it.

Is it Household insurance, or is it an extended warranty on the old machine, though?

What would happen if you got a Free Standing instead of an Integrated? They are better value and much easier to fit and swap.

It's an extended policy on a Hotpoint machine through D&G so don't have any choice on make also no choice on intergrated due to kitchen.

Just bought a fabulous Hotpoint washing machine half price. It's virtually silent, huge load capacity, economical, digital, has a child lock and timer and did I mention it was half price? Sadly, it wasn't integrated. I don't think many are. There's a much smaller range of integrated ones from my limited knowledge (wandering round the shops on Saturday to be exact).

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 13/02/2012 15:48

Just out of interest which one did you get?

Which has tests on three Hotpoint and Indesit machines

In order of test score (best first)

Indesit IWME126 Advance £243.00 Scored 66% (this price at Pixmania, much more elsewhere)

Hotpoint BHWM149 £599 scored 66% (this is "typical" price)

Hotpoint BHWM129 £308 scored 62% (this price at "Fires Cookers", much more elsewhere)

None of them are Which Best Buys.

The best buys scored 70% or more.

PigletJohn · 13/02/2012 17:41

(there are quite a lot of best buys, but none of them are built in. Might be worth considering if you can change)

PigletJohn thanks for tgat I'll take a look. Unfortunately with the position of tge washer and tge kitchen changing is not an option. Sad

Piglet John how do you know all this stuff?

anniewoo · 13/02/2012 20:13

Is Bosch better than Miele? I have a Bosch and have promised myself a Miele when my 10 year old bosch machine gives up the ghost.

PigletJohn · 13/02/2012 20:17

miele is usually more expensive upmarket than bosch, but there can be overlap. Siemens are made by a joint-venture with Bosch and some of their higher models compete with Miele.

Bosch is generally a very safe bet in large kitchen appliances.

Annie, you might have another ten years to wait Sad
