Chair covers for dining chairs?

Hi all,

we are doing up our dining room, well actually it's been a playroom since we moved in and have changed it back to a dining room. We have a dining table that was mil's and is a solid dark oak table that is lovely, but is a bit marked on top so we'd need a table cloth to cover it.

Our issue is chairs, we only have 4 of the 6 chairs that came with the table, and they are a bit old fashioned. What do you think it would look like if we bought 2 similiar sized chairs to the others and got some chair covers. We aren't sure whether they are suitable only for weddings and would look silly in a home dining room???

We've painted the walls pale green, and have got black curtains, and was thinking black table cloth and then bright green bits to fancy it up - that sounds a bit random now I've written it down but I'm sure it will work when it's done! We would get black chair covers, without the sash ribbon that you get at weddings of course.

Thanks

Bumping!

If MN didn't help me make every decision in life I don't know how I'd cope

Something like this but in black?

I think that would look fine, but not with a black table cloth. I would say black chair covers, bare table with a green table runner with black details. I think that much black fabric together would look very 'victorian mouring decor'.

I like the look of chair covers, and I don't think they look too 'wedding' unless you attach a big sash Smile

Yes that's the type I was thinking of oreo, so you think it would be ok?

I haven't got a table cloth yet, but I will need one the table is marked. I could maybe get a french polisher in though? Maybe green table cloth and black runner?

Thanks

I think it will be lovely.

I would get a french polisher - but I like wood, if you prefer a cloth then I would probably go with green cloth and black runner, to break it up a bit Smile

I dont think chairs have to match, personally. I ahve 6 chairs round my table , all different

I'm not a fan of chair covers, think they get filthy and covered in crumbs and pasta sauce

I woudl get maybe 2 chairs the same perhaps carver style and have them at the ends of the table if you want symmetry

Cyb that is such a good idea, hadn't thought of that.

The table is beautiful, just really marked. I have no idea how much a french polisher costs, I'll google it now.

Can you sand table and wax?

Hey CurlyBrunette, you can have a look on the inventory of chair covers available at sculptwareonline. I think they rent and sell too. I referred this to my committee for my company event. They rented the stuff from them and it looked elegant. They have some good table and chair cover ideas.
