Can any of you domestic godesses recommend a fantastic iron that doesn't cost the earth?

My last iron was about £45 but DP dropped it a few weeks ago! Just purchased a new one which was reduced at sainsburys from about £25 to less than £8 and I have to say I think it's better than the old one.

Oh and it's a breville easy guide 1800 (quite low watts which I was wary of but that doesn't seem to make a difference).

Yes! Best one ever is this one from J Lewis which cost me £12 and is now £15 I think. However, had a quick shuffty on their website and can't see it- it was one of their "budget" or essential range. if you have a store nearby maybe pop in.

Agree with Amelia about the John Lewis cheap one! The only drawback was a shortish cord, but I had to use an extension anyway so wasn't a big problem.

Have given up on buying expensive irons as they all break anyway and end up leaking water everywhere. Recently bought Sainsbury's own brand ceramic soleplate one for half-price c.£12. It's been fine so far.
