spacesaver bags, why can't I get them to work?

I keep being conned into buying these damn things.

Every year, I get all excited and put my spring/summer/winter clothes in a few. Do the ziploc. Use the hoover to suck out air.

Two minutes later the bag has reinflated.

Are they a con? Or am I doing something wrong [hopeful]

Some of mine work, some dont. I take the ones that dont stay compressed back to the shop.

Mine don't work either, the ones I have do just what yours do. On the other hand my friend swears by them, so maybe we got unlucky with the duds!

Then I have duds from Lakeland, John Lewis, Poundland ... . I'm sure there's some technique I'm missing

And i thought it was just me.

Are you doing it up tight, and putting the "cap" back on?

I've had some that work and some duds. The ones that actually worked were from Sainsbury's, but I've never seen them there again!
