Just get the cheapest one you can get (but one with a glass goblet and the ability to crush ice if poss).

I always knacker the motor on mine after about a year - I don't know what I do to them (I use blenders a lot though).

I usually pick one up from Tesco or Argos for about £20.

Sainsbury's basics, £4.99. I love it! You could then get the hand mixer for £4.99 with the change! Had mine for a couple of years now, no issues and as far as I can see just as good. Happy blending Smile.

Don't get a cheap one. Save/scrimp/get folk to give you birthday money Grin and buy a Bamix. Yes, scarily expensive but brilliant. I'd never heard of them until I put blender on our wedding list and some friends were horrified we'd asked for a plastic Braun. They insisted on getting us the Bamix.

And they were right: after 7 years and one baby, and a lot of pureeing, it's still happily whizzing, though after the pureeing meat stage we did have to order a new blade!

Dead easy to clean too. Optional attachments include a mini food processor (so good we got to put the big one in the loft saving oodles of space).

Ours lives hung on the wall. I'd never have thought I'd use a blender that much.
