How to deter cats ahem marking their territory in your garden

We have 3 regular cat visitors, one of them is new and does not hide evidence, leaving it on the lawn. Does anyone have a good way of deterring them other than shooing them away? I've tried orange and lemon peel but at this rate, it'll look as if we've got orange and yellow snow on our garden.

get a dog?

Okay, other than getting a dog and getting our own cat.

Ah, ds has got one somewhere, will keep one by the back door!

If you can get a few empty pop bottles or other clear 1liter bottles then fill them up with water, apparently the cat will see its reflection in them and think there are other cats. A few ppl have recommended this to me but I haven't tried it yet.

Pepper.

I sprinkle pepper over the garden. It does need to be redone frequently though, but after a while they give up trying.

But the dog works better :o

Silent Roar

When we moved into this house the local cats had a turf war over our garden, as the resident cat had moved away. As soon as I started using Silent Roar and had managed to clear all the poo from the garden, the turf war moved out to the periphery, ie just outside our garden, and there was no more pooing in our garden. I used it throughout the garden for 2-3y, and still sprinkle it most times I do some digging.

My mum had exactly the same experience when our family cat died.
