A question about Miele vacuum floor heads...

Does the standard floorhead have a little thingy on it where you can switch from hard floor to carpet? I guess it must do but wanted to check. I am going to buy a Miele vacuum cleaner and trying to choose one. Much as I like the idea of having separate, specialised heads for hard floors and carpets, it's just occurred to me that it will probably be irritating to have to switch between heads in rooms where we have hard floors with rugs on!

mine does. I assumed they all did.

When I bought my miele the man in the shop said the more expensive models are basically the same hoover but with extra options - like electric selection instead of twisting a dial type of thing.

I've got 2 different heads but use the power brush head thing (for carpets) on all the floors - solid oak, laminate, carpet, floor tiles Grin

Mine has a switch thing on the floor head that you operate with your foot. Easy.

I also have a turbo head fir carpets that I only use if carpets really bad.

RandomMess, is the head you're talking about the one called the Turbo brush?

It's called "turbo plus" we also have another one which has the lever thing that you use with your foot to distinguish between hard floor and carpet but I've never used it!

Turbobrush

With rotating air driven rollers, this floorhead will give your carpet a deep down clean. Ideal for cut pile carpets.

RandomMess · 04/02/2012 12:10

looks the same as the head I use which says turboplus on it????

my hoover came with both the brushheads shown in the previous link plus one like this. I use the turbobrush and the parquet brush and the other one sits in thr cupboard unused

I used to have an Electrobrush with my old AEG cylinder, it was as powerful as an Upright vac, but it was a very expensive accessory. It has its own motor and connects to the vac with small plug.

My normal head has a thing you press to switch from carpet tp hard floor. I also hvae the turbo brush head separate, which you can use on both types of floor withiut having to do anything to it. I have a cat and dog.

Thumbwitch · 04/02/2012 14:29

My miele has a switch on the normal head, yes.
I have just had to take it apart (owing to some dodgy oily substance on the floor that got into the brushes, necessitating serious washing) and found the most amazing layer of fluff in there! Hoping it works a lot better (and the switch is easier to operate) now that I've cleaned it out!

Ponders · 04/02/2012 14:32

basic ordinary head has a foot switch that lifts the bristles up & down

PassTheTwiglets · 04/02/2012 16:31

Aha, very interested to read that you can use a turbobrush on hard floors too!

The one I want comes with standard, switchable head, parquet floor and turbobrush carpet one. I was assuming I'd use the parquet for the parquet and the carpet for the carpet, as that's what both are designed for, but maybe I'd just use the standard one on everything, so as to save changing heads all the time.

I dont think the turbobrush is supposed to be used on hard floors. The miele website says it is for 'textile floor coverings' i.e. carpets. I like the parquet head for the hard floors in the house as it can twist about and is narrower than the standard brush heads and can get into smaller spaces

Have the miele cat and dog vacuum. Super
