Cleaning rug

All the floors in our flat are wipe-clean, but we have a rug, that used to be pale coloured (I know) and is now grey. Are there any good cleaning products I should use or do I need to take it somewhere to be cleaned? (clueless)

Rent a carpet cleaner machine from diy store ?

If you can be bothered you will be able to bring it up well with a bar of soap and a flannel and some elbow grease!

My mother cleaned every carpet in her house this way when she moved in!

Or you can but carpet cleaning sprays that you rub in and vacuum off, but if you want the best results you are going to have to do some scrubbing Grin

buy not but!

Hmm, that sounds like hard work!

Well it is, but I suppose it depends on the size of the rug, and if the dirt is really ingrained!

Do you have a steam cleaner? They are good at carpet cleaning, or you can hire them (no idea how much that costs). That shouldn't take much effort!

I share you reluctance to scrub rugs - but mine are dark so I don't have to Grin
